Replaced MAF and both sensors, codes 33 and 36, now it wont start
Hello everyone! Recently joined after scouring the net for info on my car and you seem to have the most knowledgeable people around. I am not a mechanic but am trying to troubleshoot some problems.
I have a 1980 TA with a TPI, based on research because I bought it this way, it is an 87-88, still some question whether it is a 305 or 350, if anyone can tell me how to determine, I'd love to hear it.
Check engine light on after an engine rebuild, ran little rich, codes 33 and 36 (MAF/burnoff relay) After more research, I decided to replace both relays and the MAF. Now the car won't even start. Its trying to and I thought it was going to fire up on several occassions but it just can't do it. It's getting fuel but question whether its getting enough, had gauge on it before MAF/relay change and after fuel pump replacement and it was 45
Recently replaced the fuel pump and distributor too. My well-intentioned friend has made multiple adjustments to the idle screw before I replaced the relays trying to get the idle corrected. The car was running great before I changed those relays and MAF, can anyone help?

Try putting back the old relay you may have been sold the wrong relays. If that gets it running check your base timing with the est disconnected then adjust your min idle speed adjustment. If this is a 305 use 19#hr injector 22#hr for a 350.

Nevermind ya'll, a wire on the fuel pump relay was loose, she's firing up! But I give credit to all these wonderful threads, my new diagnostic team! Now to get the timing right and my beloved will be back on the road! Thanks!

But on the subject of it being a 305 or 350, it has 19# injectors and the casting #'s go to a 305. What is the est you refer to for being disconnected? In layman please, very uneducated to the terms but learning.
