what to expect from well built tpi.

I am trying to decide what intake setup to use, carb, tpi, and I've even been tossing around the idea of an lt1 intake swap.

What I would like to know is what can a tpi intake be built to handle? Can a tpi intake be built to support 350hp? 400? What is a modified tpis limitation? I know there are people who siamese the runners and port out the plenum intake manifold runners to the max to provided better airflow. I also know there are edelbrock and tpis runners which are one big oval shaped runner which will supply more airflow. What is the best way to get the most airflow?

For my build I am hoping to make power to 5500 but redline at 6k. Thanks

Consider a HSR instead.
More potential and cheaper

N/A a stock style T.P.I. will be hard to get over 300rwhp. And, that's with good heads, LTs, nice sized cam, etc.

For a budget TPI upgrade, port the base, siamese the plenum, and get some used SLP runners.(also port matched). Add spray and enjoy

Re: what to expect from well built tpi.

Over the years i think i have seen 300-350 whp with conventional long tube aftermarket tpi. Buttloads of torque tho. 400-500 lb ft. Thats some pep

Rpm limited in long tube design of current diameters on the market. To get much more power you need to either build bigger tubes and mate to custom enlarged base ($$$) or siamese runners to shorten things to gain rpm potential.

You are sucking air thru a long straw... Its easiest to suck thru a larger diameter straw if it has to be long or a very short straw.
