11.5 air/fuel ratio at WOT... too rich?

Is 11.5 at wide open throttle too rich? I do have a adjustable fuel pressure regulator, should i scale back the fuel pressure?

right now its at 48 with the vacuum line unplugged

What kind of motor is it? Nitrous? boosted? or just natural aspirated?

If n/a, then its way to rich and you'll need more than fuel pressure to dial it back but bringing it down to 38-40psi would be a good place to start

yeah it n/a, could the problem be in the piggy back chip? Could that also explain why i feel the car is somewhat underperforming? Ill dial teh fuel pressure back and see how that effects it first i guess

Depends on whats done in the chip...but it could be the reason. You'll gain a good bit of power bringing it back into the mid high 12's to 1

how does the ecm control wide open throttle? does it kick it take it out of closed loop?

seemed like the car has more power at 3/4 throttle then wot

Re: 11.5 air/fuel ratio at WOT... too rich?

ECM will use 2 modes... the VE table since your's is a 91 it should be speed density. And a power enrichment function vs rpm. Too much fuel could be at either location if they were modified by the piggy back chip. If the tune was assuming bolt on mods which increased airflow alot and needed extra fuel, and if you are still stock TPI, then it could be overly rich because its thinking more air is suppose to come in.

ECM drops out of closed loop in a sense because it will reset BLM/INT and not use o2 voltage signal anymore and just rely on the WOT tables for fueling.

Re: 11.5 air/fuel ratio at WOT... too rich?

the vehicle was modded to add more air, ported plenum, ported slp runners, tpis big mouth intake base, crane 2032 cam, full 3" exhaust and headers..

so how does scaling back fuel pressure lower the a/f at WOT?

Less pressure is less fuel. If you got those mods, chances are its too rich because the tune was overcompensating for the mods and wasnt really needed.

What injectors does it have and was that changed in the tune?
