i have a 90 iroc L98/700r4. trying to find a lightweight plate is it 153 tooth or 168?

153 use the straight bolt pattern starter. 168, stagered pattern. 153 should be a lil lighter.

Get a thicker flexplate and ditch the heavy, power robing and wimpy 12" torque converter and go with a atleast 2600rpm 9.5" lockup.

i just got my trans rebuilt with a stall like a month ago flexplate was the only thing i didnt change.. didnt have the $$

Given the weight of the convertor, the weight of the flexplate is somewhat irrelavent

Most with perf engines upgrade to a heavier one for strength to stop the lightweight stock one from being ripped apart

More important question when looking is whether it fits 1 pce RMS or 2 pce RMS crank;
the 2 different types don't interchange

Stock it was but the way guys swap engines on this forum , we don't assume anything

Every week someone is asking how to swap in a truck engine from the '70's ( 2 pce RMS ) their uncle / brother / boss has sitting under the bench

The stock flexplate is pretty darn light. Not like a flywheel obviously. I don't know how light you think you're gonna get!
