LB9 + boost? and other Q's...

so i'm lookin into buyin my very own 3rd gen finally (more a ford guy, but i've always loved the 3rd gen camaro body style)

guy says its an Iroc, auto with a 350 TPI, but its a 1985 and everything i've found says that 1985's didnt come with 350's, only the LB9's. from the pics it also doesnt say Iroc on it and from what i've found the 1985's didnt have the no decal option? which leads me to believe its actually a z28... will check when i actually go to see the car, and look for the code in the glove box.

first off, how much should i pay for a 1985 iroc? or how about just a z28 with an LB9? i'm not lookin to spend more than 2000? is that too low? i'm in need of a daily driver till i can get my 03 mustang back on the road and make the camaro a secondary project... he said the trans was rebuilt less than 1000 miles ago, and has a B&M shift kit.

now onto the real question:
how much boost can a LB9 hold safely? and how much horsepower can i expect? i plan on running megasquirt for tuning. i had my mustang at 420 rwhp before i blew it, and i need to fill that gap, as the mustang is gunna be a 600+ when im done with it, and its not gunna be daily driver streetable. planning on a single turbo, 1-off custom setup done by me with my new tig setup. that or a cheap juice setup... and what trans did the 85's come with? the 700r4? how much HP can that handle? can i get a manual valve body and transbrake for it?

was also thinking about a motor swap. LT1 crossed my mind just because i love that motor, but then i got to thinkin, what about a 5.3 vortec? electronics wont be a problem, i'll be running the megasquirt. my biggest concern is Reliability. second concern is budget. i want to keep the price on the motor down as much as possible so the wife wont know what im doin lol i've spent most of my budget on the 'stang after throwin 2 rods out the side of the block and #1 piston almost blowing out the top...
