I`m new to these boards,... I`m actually a mustang guy belong on their boards but my father has a 1990 GTA with the 305 TPI and is currently experiencing some issues with it,......

It runs great cold but once it warms up runs like crap and wont start when shut off till it cools down,......
I`m going over on the weekend to check the resistance on all the injectors,... but I also noticed that it appears some of the vacuums appear to be hooked up wrong,..... I`m not incredibly familiar with this engine so im not incredibly sure but the principles are the same as my 302 and I`m very familiar with the vacuums on it and they all basically goto the same places,.. it looks like the EGR vacuum on his is wrong and a line is missing from the canister in the front passenger side.

What I`m after is a GM service manual that will give me all the electrical testing procedures to test complete circuits, OHM resistance values, and voltages of all the sensors and wiring harnesses from the computer and all of their components. I want to go through everything one sensor at a time. I have all winter to work on it for him. I also need detailed schematics of all the vacuum lines. Which manual do I need to be looking for?

The 1990 Firebird GM service manual with the electrical troubleshooting supplement.

 

Is there a part number? I`ve found the GM Pontiac Trans Am Service Manual on ebay but it doesn`t have electrical supplement in the title,..... where would I find this particular manual? Do you know?

Try and find a GM service manual. It will be the most complete. Or some access to Alldata software.

Your correct to ohm the injectors while cold and hot. Also check the Ignition Control Module
Once hot it can make the car run poor and not start again untill it cools. off. THAT would be my #1 to check.

As with anything its all gonna be similar to the 302. Welcome to the darkside. Most people on these boards will lend a helping hand. Ask away if you cant find an answer somewhere.

That's it, but the schematics are published separately in the electrical supplement.

 

Where can I find the electrical supplement? What's it called? Is there a part #? Can I use my multimeter to test the ignition module?

 

Thanks bud. Figured you'd like the colour, lol. Yeah I'm real happy with the Novi,.... The 2000 would be too much for my stock bottom end. At 8 PSI with Edelbrock Performer upper and lowers 70mm TB Performer RPM heads and a custom grind E cam set up I'm putting down 426 RWHP.
