Timing Guns & Fuel Pressure Gauges - What's In Your Toolbox?
This morning I visited Autozone and they had two choices from Actron available. One at $44 and the other at $99 being ' digital '. I left to ponder what you guys have in your toolboxes so I can make an informed decision.
The Actron devices did not have an adjustable **** I recall seeing ASE Techs use when I used to sneak in several GM dealerships back in the '90s for the GM Performance catalogs lol but that was then and technology has improved by now as the quality of todays timing guns I assume.
2 Questions:
- So which brand is great to keep? This is for my upcoming L98 TPI tune I'd like to perform today.
- I've read an LO3 stock factory timing is set at zero degrees BTDC but what setting for my '92 TPI L98?
As for the Fuel Pressure Gauge, Autozone has a kit with fittings I saw for $40 but I'm undecided if there is a better tool out there for our TPI systems.
Price doesn't matter to me since I'm gonna keep it and learn from my investments!

I have an actron timing gun (non-digital), fuel gauge, and vacuum gauge. 6 degrees BTDC for the L98 timing.

This is very helpful, I was curious about the timing procedure and found it on a Search. Guess I don't have to go high dollar for these items I see.
