New toTPI

Hi all, have purchased my first ever Chevrolet this year an 85 Z28 and I love it, a lot of fun to drive! As there is no emissions testing in New Zealand I am about to do away with the cat and std exhaust system including the air injection system and fit headers and build my own twin system. What I would like to know is this, when I disconnect the solenoids for the air injection is this going to affect the computer in any way and possibly bring up check engine light? If so, what do I need to do to sort this?
Cheers Simon

Re: New toTPI

No problem with removing the AIR system. No SES lights will be involved. You will need an O2 sensor in your headers to make the ECM work properly, and may need a Heated one if the location in the header is further down stream, as it needs heat to make it work.

Re: New toTPI

Cheers for that man, good to know that nothing will change and yes I will have to fit aheated 02 sensor as it will be down in the collector for the headers'
Thankyou
Simon
