help with air filter

hi yea i installed this k&n RC-5000 air filter on my tpi and the car is having a rough start but if i put the regular filter on with the MAF sensor on it and it started up fine is it because the MAF sensor isnt hooked up or what please help tryna get more horse power out of it.

First of all, if you have the OE engine management system with MAF, your car will not run correctly with the MAF unplugged. Secondly, that filter picks up hot air from the radiator and is far from ideal. If you want to increase air flow into the TB, do a search for "high flow air lid" to see how we modify our air filter lids to make them move some serious air. Look closely at my avatar for a clue.

If you're looking for more power, skip the K&N air filter and look elsewhere. Just use a paper filter.

The oil in those filters will coat your MAF sensor and cause it to read incorrectly.
