305 vs 350 TPI: Whats the difference?

I found a 305 TPI off a '92 Camaro for $200. Was thinking of buying it to convert my '73/zz4 to TPI. I think the injectors are too small though.

I currently have a set of SVO Mustang injectors that are about 10 years old.

1. Wondered if they would work in place of stock 24# injectors?
2. Are there any other issues with a 305 TPI that I would need to be concerned about to run it on a ZZ4 motor?
3. Is $200 a decent deal for this particular tpi?

thanks
David

stock 305 TPI's had 19# injectors.. not 24#... 350TPI's had 22# injectors..

what are they including in the $200 price??

oh, sorry. 22#

for $200 it's the complete intake, tb, sensors, rails, injectors but no harness, ecm, dist.

Do you know if my SVO injectors will work?

thanks

I'm running a set of SVO 19# in my 305, and have a set of 24# in a 350 I'm getting ready to finish.

They will "work" but ultimately you want the tune adjusted to accommodate the larger size injectors

Re: 305 vs 350 TPI: Whats the difference?

i would say dont even mess with the 305. you can make a ton more power with a carb 305 or even more with a carbed 350. the stock tpi set (305/350) is super constrictive and robs horsepower like a mad man. i had a loner 305 tpi in my Iroc and it had some good power but nothing to write home to mom about.

if you want a tpi set-up i would recomend getting a 350 buying GM performance vortec heads and getting a tpi intake and stealth ram intake. it will up your HP to around 350 with a stock cam.

READ what he said.

He is buying the TPI intake off a 305 and putting it on his ZZ4 350 crate engine.

Re: 305 vs 350 TPI: Whats the difference?

Well I currently have a Street & Performance "Tunnel Ram" intake on it with an older style Accel DFI (dos based interface) harness and computer. I am trying to use the car as a daily driver and now I live 42 miles from work. The setup only gets about 15 mpg. I know I can get into the 20's with a stock TPI.

Maybe I should try to continue to use my tunnel ram and hook it up to a stock 7730 computer and harness. I don't know if it would get decent mileage or not since the stock chip is tuned for the long tube TPI intake.

Whaddya' think ??

thanks
David

Re: 305 vs 350 TPI: Whats the difference?

what you lose in top end horsepower you gain a touch on the torque, plus maybe hes looking for better driveability....that would be a reason for me to go to fuel injection
