Heads/Cam/Intake upgrade?

Hello, my cousin and I are looking to get the maximum performance out of his 5 speed iroc Camaro with a 350tpi, swapped from the original 305. I was thinking we could do a nice top end upgrade to Edelbrock tpi base, runners, and top manifold. Also a set of the Performer RPM Heads and an appropriate cam to go along with it. The motors pretty much stock except for Edelbrock headders and y-pipe and MSD Igintion upgrades.

What Im basicly asking is what is working well for you guys? Will this even be worth the trouble?

Thank you for your time. RD

What about the Holley Stealth Ram with a set of AFR 180 heads?

Re: Heads/Cam/Intake upgrade?

I just built a budget 355 using edelbrock e-Street heads, comp cams 08-305-8, holley 52mm throttle body, PRW Roller rockers, and lots of other inexpensive parts. Its all backed up by my T5 too. Lots of fun on the street, about to take it to the track in a couple weeks. Just learned how to tune as I went from factory non-cc carb to TPI!

Re: Heads/Cam/Intake upgrade?

for a stealth ram you would be now making most of the power up high. Recommend a better gear ratio now like a 373, so you can get up there faster to your new rpm range.

Re: Heads/Cam/Intake upgrade?

watch out for duration on the cam. Too much and you will need a prom reflash.

Re: Heads/Cam/Intake upgrade?

The Afr 180 is a 180cc intake runner. Edelbrock is a 165cc which will give you more low end torque. I would keep the car true to it's low end torque.

Re: Heads/Cam/Intake upgrade?

I have made the following upgrades to my otherwise original L98 350:

CC XR258HR-12,Trick flow heads 195cc,Edelbrock baseplate unchanged,SLP runners siamesed,original plenum siamesed,Hooker 2055 headers with 3inch Y-pipe,3inch fullflow Catco,American thunder after cat system,March pullies,Accel 24lbs injectors.

Despite not tuned(running lean)and the cam is to small and the heads are to big yes i know but car still pulls really strong.

regards Mats
