ok bought a 86 iroc z had a new 350 and iron 2.02 heads under the original I prezoom 305 tpi ran good lots of torque no gauges worked long story short i blew the side ofthe head out trying to get a new sending unit for temp tore it down bought some corvette alum zz4 heads w no egr port and installed car will start but sounds like its running on 6 cylinders missing bad everything is put back the way it was as far as I can tell I am failey skilled weekend mec but this has got me baffled timmimg has ben set correct w new cap and rotor new bosh plugs I put in a 350 coil in the dist have checked and doubble checked dose anyone know if the egr being blocked off by the new heads make the car run this crappy much thanks if you can help!!!

 

my camaro had a bad sending unit in the head for temp cracked head trying to fix now i have a set of zz4 or l-98? heads with no egr port everything else is put back as it was doubble checked timming and dist new cap rotot plugs sounds lick it is running on 6 cylinders and wont idle you haft to floor it to get it to start help please thanks much

 

From reading this and your other post it doesn't sound like a EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) problem at all. (You can easily find EGR problems on Google...)

It sounds like a timing problem... and the fact that you changed the distributer or even took it out for that matter points me in that direction.

Do you have a timing light? Start there.... make sure that you disconnect the ESC wire.
Then check the order of your spark plug wires.

 

ok I took your advise and tripple checked timing one again finding tdc and making sure my disy is pointed at n1 position drivers front of dist then timmed the best I could with it missing then pulled one wire at a time and no change still missing not one plug off made a difference also put my bad a$$ msd plug wires from diffrent project on my gap is set at 45 w platnum plugs and a good hot coil tech book recomends that gap be set at 35 for stock 305 it came with I am now going to check my valve adjustment maby i forgot one cylinder(there was a cocktail or two involved) however I have done a thousand valve adjustments and the top end is making no clacking also checked drivers side injectors for proper position I also marked them before I pulled them off will also check the spark plugs to see what they are doing any other suggestions? sorry I am running on just trying to be throu THANKS
