TUNED by AZTPI

been having tuning issues on this new stealth ram 268 xfi comp cam 350.
after a pcm4less mail order chip and many weeks of frustration I took it to "arizona TPI" its been 110 in arizona for the past month so i havnt really had a chance to see what its "got"..well its been in the 80s for the past few days, overcast with some humidity in the air..Long story short IT HAULS *** straight up FRYS the tires, chirps gears and PULLS HARD,Really hard!!
I cant thx these guys enough they really know what ther doing.

cant wait for fall and winter here in A.Z. I wana beat up on a LS1.Ive had 22 trans ams,a few LS1s and I know this GTA is pulling hard enough to give a automatic LS1 a real good match if not beat it,A six speed is another story unless the guy cant drive.

Props to AZTPI,they arnt cheap but they are GOOD.

Re: TUNED by AZTPI

Do they have a website? How much is it for them to do a tune? Has anybody else used this place before? I am looking to get a tune done on my car but I haven't decided on a place to do it yet since I can't find anyplace locally to dyno tune it.

They didnt put mine on a dyno, they are around 80$ a hour its like 300$ for a custom tune,no piggy back chips sold here, they burn your existing prom.
piggy backs are terrible from what they say. they have been around since 1989 specializing in tpi.

Re: TUNED by AZTPI

MADMAX I have to say after following your history with tuning your setup..I also tried pcmforless tune and wasnt happy with it either.Car wouldnt pull its own weight that it sure sounds mean but a 305 had a chance to beat me...so Im glad you feel finally your motor is upto par with the performance its meant to give..if not succeed your expectations. I wish i could have my car tuned by these guys but sadly I live in Canada and tuners here mostly deal with the ls1 ecms only..and few will touch lt1s muchless dive into a tpi car and try to set it up for max performance.

I have yet to see what my 383 hsr and 280xfi cam is capable of and I know it will be a beast when I do get it upto par...as it stands..the holley regulator crapped out..and Im looking into a good set of injectors..i think my lil 24lbs was great for tpi..but not enough for my 383 hsr now lol.Plus i want to make sure I dont have anymore vacuum leaks.

Re: TUNED by AZTPI

yea,im happy Its bad ***,i need to make a video.
Your build will be beast.Just gotta get a tune.
the pcm4less chip was a nightmare. aztpi says its impossible to get the tune right with mail order. you should see the aztpi mechanics 3rd gen its beautiful z28 91 or 92 with ls6 in it,and another mechs 95 trans am with ls6,they got some sweet rides sitting in ther shop.

damn your getting me all excited again in making the car really run lol... for awhile i was just fine with letting it sit and look into it later.

id love to see a video of yours as it sits now ..and maybe a few burnouts or drive by's ... and its easy to tell when your in the right shop by looking at the cars they work on and what they own.

Re: TUNED by AZTPI

im toying with the exact same idea..6speed and 383 hsr will be very stout.Though I have nice 3.23 gears for the highway pulls that keeps up with alot of the highway queen hondas around my area that will never run me from a dig..I dont wanna loose that..but want to regain a lil more launch off the line. thinking a 3.42 gear will be a nice balance and with 6speed ill be eating ls1s soon

Re: TUNED by AZTPI

amazingly my 3.27 gear is really good,it dont spin super hard like alot of my 3.42s did, with that gear and all the tubular suspention I got it launchs really well.depends on the surface of the road, but if I get a six speed I would definatly keep this rear gears. you might wana keep the 3.23 with a six speed.idk 4 sure just a thought

AZ Speed is going to be helping me make a nice 305 for my Z. I talked to them on the phone today for about 30 mins. Its good to hear they are so good. They didnt even give me flak about doing a mild 305! Gotta love that!

Re: TUNED by AZTPI

I've had them do 3 tunes for me and will have them dial in a 4th this fall. They tuned the DFI setup on my 92, the original engine swap into the 88, and the 383 that was dropped in this spring. All with good results. We've made some changes to the 88 since then so I'll have them re-adjust the tune on the dyno in September before racing season starts.

The folks from PCMforless ran the DFI car on the dyno and said there wasn't really anything they would change as part of a local club dyno event.

Their tuner, Leighton, knows his stuff and is more than willing to help with parts selection if you have questions about a build. He's been in the business of tuning for as long as there was an option to tune a GM EFI system.

this makes me laugh... they are Arizona TPI, but they ditched their TPI engines in favor of LS engines??

nice..

Re: TUNED by AZTPI

I bought the 89 GTA from Madmax that started this thread, I found the Fuel Pressure regulator was disconected with the line just coming from it and laying off to the side. Then found the open vac port on the back of the Stealth ram.
Put it back and WOW. Maybe it was disconnected for some sort of diagnostic purposes. But it works better hooked up. Took away the engine shakes as well.

Great Car and Tune, Just not sure how it got unplugged.

Re: TUNED by AZTPI

I just got my car back after having an engine swap. Everything listed in my signature was installed on another car and had a computer chip tuned for it. I put all this in my car and the computer and chip. it seems like it needs a retune, it stalls on idle a lot and seems to be fighting for gas times and other times i can coast at 40mph without having to keep my foot on the gas. Is it normal to have to do a retune/burn or whatever if it was already done in the prior car it was in? Keeping in mind i swapped the complete engine and all the hardware from one 89 iroc to another. thanks for any comments.

Re: TUNED by AZTPI

If you swapped over all the sensors along with the engine, then I'd start looking at the items you didn't swap. How old is the fuel pump? what kind of shape is the wiring in? Did the TPS and IAC get reset properly? What about the base timing?

i dont know the answers to your questions, but ill ask the guy who did the swap for me. what kind of sensors are you referring to? i believe my wiring was in good shape, my care is well kept and maintained.

Re: TUNED by AZTPI

Do yourself a huge favor, take it to Arizona Differential, 27th ave and weldon
let nate check it out. 602 272 4600 they do trick work and prices are reasonable
Besides its always good to get a professional second opinion

It could be something simple.
aztpi tuned my gta and it ran like ***.they also left the fuel pressure reg hose off..nate figured it out quik.
My 97 WS6 ran like **** with a dirty MAF from the last bad dust storm,..it was stumbling all over the place, I was going crazy couldnt find a problem, checked plugs, wires, injectors nate scanned it,cleaned the maf, reset the pcm and It was back to the races.

so ever since I go to arizona differential, nates a true gear head.

2.73?? damn,talk to nate,man that car would be a differnt animal with a 3.73gear...or even 3.42
