Car wont start cold.

Ok so my TA will run, has great throttle response, runs like a champ. But she wont stay running cold. I will have too crank her till my engine actually get enough heat too move the gauge and then she will run. she takes about 10 mins of cranking too get her too run. once after enough cranking that she is just barley getting temp she will then fire right up and run no problems no air leaks no nothing. Could my ecm be thinkin my car is already warm and isn't giving the proper fuel for a cold start? im at a loss only thing i can think of is my port injector is not pumping enough fuel for priming the system but i know it shoots fuel. please help i dont want too replace the ecm if i dont have too. Also my ecm is throwing no codes.

Re: Car wont start cold.

Try this. If your TA wont start at all during a cold start, you may be filling up the cylinders with gas (flood). Next time you do a cold start, crank and after about 5 revolutions, press the gas pedal all the way down. If you hold the gas pedal to the floor while cranking, that will trigger the computer into a "clear flood mode" and turn off the injector pulse. . Once the right A/F mixture is correct, the TA should fire up. Then just let off the pedal little by little so that the TA wont stall. Let me know if this works. As for the hard start, I dont know what could be the issues. Perhaps a fail component of the ignition (plugs, wires, ICM, ESC module) or fuel system (fuel injectors, fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump).

Re: Car wont start cold.

Im leaning towards that you may have some sort of issue with the ignition system. Maby you should beef up the ignition to clear the issue and gain a horse or two. Change the spark plugs, wires, ICM, ESC Module, coil. Also and most important, check the spark timing. Im not sure what it should be at in your TA but in my 86 IROC, with the EST wire disconnected, I set mine at 6*. Good luck bro.

Re: Car wont start cold.

I will try the pedal too florr method tomorrow it's too late here and i dont need a noise complaint again. Also on the timing yeah it's the same for mine it's the 6* Also i have replaced the Spark plugs/wires/cap/rotar/dist. But it it was the coil she wouldn't really want too start at all if im correct. see she wont start cold but if once slightly warm(like guage just barley moves) she will stay running flawlessly at 1100 rpms and then drops too about 8 once shes fully up too temp. thanks i will let you guys know tomorrow after trying out those methods.
