My Temp Gauge Not Working ???Confused

My Temp gauge is not working.....regardless....
I went to autozone today and they told me it was my Temp Switch....does anyone know if that is right or is it my temp sensor or are they the same thing..

Is Temp Switch and Temp Sensor the same thing???

If it is the Temp Switch does anyone know where that is at?
Thank You

Re: My Temp Gauge Not Working ???Confused

The temp switch is for your dash gauge it has a one wire slide on connector mine is on the drivers side head front of the engine yours should be in the same place.

Take a small wire brush to the contact on one wire slide on connector and the post on the switch I've had to do that to mine to get my dash gauge to work.

There's two temp sensor on is below the throttle body on the intake manifold it has a snap in electrical plug it sends water temp info to the ecm.

There's another that measures air temp its a snap in connector its under the plenum it sends info two the ecm .

They don't turn on or off they change there resistance from one set point to another but the auto stores call them switches and sensors and senders depending on what they control.
