65 Small journal 327 fuelie Tpi compatible?

Got a 65 fuelie engine with 58 cc heads and 2.02 intake/1.60 exhaust. It is a small journal block but I'm changing the Duntov 30/30 cam for streetability issues and gas milage. My TPI I was told is an 1986 unit. I plan on putting this in my 68 C10. My question is will the 327 small journal which is high reving be compatible with a 305 TPI unit? Which years wiring harnesses can I use? And should I go the custom prom route. I got the engine and TPI for free so I would really like to make this work if possible. The TPI unit must be a custom because it is missing the cold start injector( fuel rail appears to be from different unit). Any advice you could give would be of big help because I'm a newbie to TPI but I have built fuel injected Toyota 22re units from junk yards. Oh yeah I would like to use a 700r4 that is not controlled by computer but I'll shut up and listen now. Thanks!

The block and heads are not an issue. The 86 TPI intake uses the same intake bolt pattern. The cam is not going to work. You should get a cam meant for EFI keeping in mind the RPM range of TPI. The 700R4s in cars and trucks all will function without a computer but need a kit to operate the lock up.

Re: 65 Small journal 327 fuelie Tpi compatible?

Things will bolt up. The biggest issue I think you're likely to face though, is that TPI is going to be a **** poor induction system to use with that motor. That motor only makes power by spinning it at ungodly high RPM. TPI makes it's power at low rpm. Bad combination.

I've got 461 fuelie heads on my TPI 350, and the power curve sucks. The heads are junk below 4,000 rpm, and TPI is junk above 5,000 rpm.
