What could be a stupid question regaurding code 42
i recently reset my base timing{for nitrous use}, SES on dash does NOT illuminate...i pulled codes just for the hell of it...and got a code 42
however, i havent disconnected my battery or cleared codes since i was resetting my base timing..
will resetting base timing with est disco'd set a code 42?

Go ahead and disconnect. Your getting a 42 because during timing,I assume that you had the EST wire disconnected right? So once you disconnect, then turn on to set the timing, the ECM senses a change or problem related to timing so it'll store a troublecode. Disconnect the positive cable to erase the codes for 5 minutes. Then reconnect. Turn on the IROC and let it idle for about a minute or so, so that the system can switch to "closed loop." Then take her out for a drive so that the ECM can learn your driving habits. Remember that the ECM learns while the vehicle is in motion per "speedometer cable, VSS." Then you should be code free.
