89 iroc-z Motor Rebuild
Hi i just bought a 89 iroc z it is a police edition with a 5.7l tpi, 700r4,with 2.73 rear end. Im looking for parts and setups to reach my goal of 400-450hpMy friend Rob @ Bullet Engines in kingston,Ontario is going to do the machining if needed for me. So any info would be greatly apprecaited. I will keep yous posted as the restoration progresses

That much power to rear wheels is doable with a strong 383. For 350 engine 400-450 flywheel horsepower is doable with TPI style intake. Easier with different intake like holley stealth ram and can get some more HP. Some people think it's easier to ditch TPI and go carb. You will need to upgrade transmission and rear end for that power. Will need good flowing heads and decent cam too.
I figure that it's about $2,500 more to go with 383 than 350. 383 needs $700 for rotating assembly, pistons, etc and about $1,800 for strong rear end. Maybe you can get some good used items especially from your buddy to bring costs down.

You could always do mild 350 upgrade and use 100 or 150 shot of nitrous.

the tranny is being updated and rear end i will change when it goes i am putting 343 gears right away as far as the heads when i find a good set Rob is going to do the porting and valve job very good at what he does
