So tell me, what do you guys think about these heads? I don't want to go vortec(yet anyways). I don't really wanna go aluminum either. Let me know....lol.

Re: Summit Heads? What you guys think?

I'm not a head expert at all, but those seem like pretty dang big valves for such a small runner. The price is right anyway, can't argue with that

I also can't argue with the price. I am no head expert either. Im hoping that somebody who is will respond because I am really interested in these.

Re: Summit Heads? What you guys think?

I don't care for them. They have a 72 cc combustion camber. That's going to yield low compression. You should look for a head that at least has a 64cc camber.

Re: Summit Heads? What you guys think?

Probably in the low 8's. Theyre basically smog heads with screw in studs and some other improvements. You can occasionally find a set of new heads off of a goodwrench in the trash. Ive tossed a set myself, and the so have a few other people on my street every now and then (should give you some idea of what they're really worth ). For free, you would probably just about get the same result. Runs, but goes slow and likes to ping from my experience.

If you actually want to get decent performance, look elsewhere.

Re: Summit Heads? What you guys think?

Any reason why you cant work over your current L98 heads? With some machine work and a good port job, they could probably run circles around those heads. The overall price would probably be about the same, or maybe a little more depending on what you do to them.

That about sums it up. It's a basic low performance smog head. Your L98 heads would do much better.

Re: Summit Heads? What you guys think?

They're cheap--but they should be... There's so much power to be made by selecting the proper heads and cam...Actually the name of the game is efficiency... Those heads were designed for Grandma's Caprice, low performance and low compression....

I switched to aluminum heads on most everything, AFR's for the most part. I've also put together a couple projects using the Edelbrock Performer RPM package which I was very pleased with!!! They are components designed to compliment each other and will give excellent performance and retain streetability, driveability, and MPG!!!!

I guess for me it comes down to considering value more then I do price.... I want to get the most bang for my buck!!!!
