TPI swap - non serpentine setup
I have all the information in my notes with the exception of the accesory brackets. The TPI ('86 or '87 305) would be going on a block where the heads don't have all the drilled holes for the serpentine setup like the later ones had. If I remember correctly the only other brackets needed for the swap are the ones for the smog pump and alternator. Also, can the stock clutch fan be used or will it require the dual electric setup?
Anyone who's done one of these swaps like this I'd appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Larry.

Re: TPI swap - non serpentine setup
I installed a GMPP Deluxe Serpentine Drive Kit on a GMPP crate motor some years ago. A few bolts were not used (no holes) but the setup is made to fit any Gen I block and still be strong. That kit is based on the third gen f-body drive setup.
You will definately want to upgrade to dual electric fans.
From the instructions...
"This kit is based on the accessory drive system from the Tuned Port Injection (TPI) engines of the early 1990's. It uses factory engineered brackets and components."
"Alternator and Power steering bracket: Note The inboard bolt to the cylinder head may not line up, depending on the head used. If it can not be installed go to next stage. The system was tested without this bolt installed and no problems were noted."
It says the same for the other bracket...hope this helps.
