1990 tpi fuel problems

1990 tpi fuel problems

I replaced pump,sock, and filter today. Pump primes up I broke the fuel line lose at motor and fuel sprayed out. But car still wont crank up. If I spray carb cleaner into the butterflies it will fire off only long enough to burn the carb cleaner. This car has been setting up for 4 yrs. So I guess the check list could be long.

Start with the basics, You got spark, thats a start. sounds like you've got pressure up to the rail, but is it enough? throw a gauge on the test port and see what you've got, should be over 35 or so. If that's good you need to see if the injectors are firing, If they aren't there's lots of possible reasons why.

Thanks for the help Max. Is there any special fitting for the pressure gauge to go on fuel rail? The car is an hour away so I try and gather all parts before I go to work on it.

The fitting on the rail is pretty standard This is the test gauge I have On the TPI you don't need to use the adapter.

Thanks again Max I guess I might as well buy one of those from what I,ve read so for I could use it anytime almost when troubleshooting the tpi.
