Another Code 33 Question
So I got the car running really good today, I go outside to move the car tonight, turn the key and code 33 is back.. I now noticed that this happens when I turn the key all the way fast, instead of turning the key forward, priming the pump, then all the way..
Does this make any sense to anyone.. Its almost like if I don't allow the computer to prime, it goes into code...

Re: Another Code 33 Question
Nah, it doesnt work like that. What is your TPS set at?
If you read what a code 33 is, you'll know that the MAF sensor is picking up
high voltage at intial startup 1-2 seconds of the engine running etc etc...
Basically, just because the car runs better does not mean you fixed
the code.
What it does indicate is that you caused the behavior to change, which is
good. It is difficult to start testing all the grounds and circuits, but if you
have access to a Autoxray scan tool, you can take a look at the MAF/MAP
readings with ease, and the overall demeanor of the car.
or, you can refer to the numerous troubleshooting guides here on TGO.
Usually cars running well with a code 33 are relay/electrical
related, If you have a friend with a TPI MAF car you can play the
exchange game with the relays/sensor.
I suggest replacing MAF power and burnoff with new for peace of mind..
A few weeks ago a TGO forumite BigWhiteGTP pretty much had
the code 33 trifecta. 3 of us TGO'ers with a autoxray scan tool,
another TPI car (thanks burnout88! beautiful IROC) it took us a
morning to figure it out.
