Completely Frustrated!!!!
Well, I got the car all packed up and ready for a weekend at the track.. I backed it out of the garage and gave it a quick wash, said my goodbye's and jumped in...
Excited because the car felt better than ever.. I put all new MSD box, wires, coil on.. Found a plug under the coil that was unplugged (EGR solenoid from what I am told) and it pulled great!!
Jumped in, started the car and it wouldn't run right.. It was missing, timing felt out, it was smoking, etc... WTF...... So I go through some things, everything looked fine.. No vacuum leaks, all plugs looked plugged in.. Still nothing.. It starts but runs like a bag of crap..
So I went and picked up my buddy with a scanner and it tells us the the mas air and TPS aren't acting right.. Codes... It does run like the mass ir isn't working.
My question is, how all of a sudden after running better than ever does this happen?? So needless to say, no weekend at the track for me...
Going to post and see if anyone in Ontario/Detroit has a spare mass air meter and TPS.... Try that at least..
Any other ideas????

not throwing any codes? codes wont pop until a certain number of starts. check your TPS voltage. start w/ the little things usually always is a sensor.

Re: Completely Frustrated!!!!
People here always recommend .54V at idle. My service manual says it's supposed to be less than .9V and that's about it.

go over all the basics, check voltage for your tps, check your wires to make sure they going to the right cylinder, check your msd box, i hear that if a wire is off those things go apeshit. try a maf from another car

check your Injectors resistance. should be between 11.0-14.0 ohms, sometimes 16. next if its bucking, id assume that maybe your Fuel pressure regulator is unpluged? or perhaps it could be a dizzy problem, like the Pickup coil, or module. i set my tps to .555volts. check your IACV and slap test the MAF. is the pcv good, i imagine if your egr solenoid was up plugd. maybe some crap got in the vacuum lines between the egr, and the throttle body. id vacuum test everything from the fuel canister, to the egr solenoid. I had a bad vacuum leak. the egr solenoid was literally burnd up and fryed like chicken. the Throttle body passages were clogged and the IACV was too. the solenoid on the canister should hold vacuum. check the vacuum rez in the bumper and work your way to the plenum, ive had bad check valve on the route to the vacuum rez. next, check to see if the TCC is engaging early. i had to replace the switch by the brake pedal. it was in peice, but it was awesome to chirp everygear. HA. and last but not least, spark plug wires, and bad plugs. EGR VALVE IS A PITA

well, its running riow, but there is still an issue.. I start the car and it chugs a little until I hit the gas then it clears up and the service engine soon light comes on... It will drive normal and still goes like hel but when I get off the gas, it seems as though its slowing down, then you can feel a sensor fire up and the idle is good again.. I know, sounds wierd. Its a little hard to explain..
I do have to get a new TPS plug...... All 3 plastic insulators on mine have broke off.. Maybe there is interferance there?? The TPS in the car is set at .54, but the scanner indicates it has a lazy spot...
Are all MAF the same.. I took one from a '89 car and put it on my '87.. Plugged right, but the numbers are different on it? Looks the same in every way though.
I put new wires on it... I do really want to get another EGR and put it in.. The car ran great when it was working...
So all in all, the car does run, but there is an unhappy sensor in there somewhere.... I will keep plugging away at it....

does it run the same when you start it compares to after its ran awhile?
i'd personally ohm the injectors next if it were still acting up.
