The last piece of the puzzle??????

For those that had been following my threads ( and for those that weren't),
I was having a hesitation at acceleration issue with my gta. Recently this
problem progress into a surge and cut off problem at idle at stop lights.
I got my hands on some accel 24# injectors and I have new adjustable
fpr that I am ready to install.
Ok gurus help!!!!
What should I set my fuel pressure at?
Just a reminder that pretty much all the sensors have been replace on the
car except the cts and the knock sensor. Hopefully I shouldn't have to do
any iac adjustments or anything but if I do, that's ok. That's why I am asking.
Help me hopefully finally put the last piece of this puzzle in so I can move on
to other areas of the car that I want to fix.

Re: The last piece of the puzzle??????

I suggest running the car at the stock PSI rating 45-48psi?, youll want to configure
your prom for the 24# injectors down the road. So, until then you want to avoid
shoving excessive fuel down the throat of your motor. The car should run fine without
a tune right away, but increasing fuel pressure will only worsen the situation.

So essentially the last peice of this puzzle is a tune.

You might need to set the idle speed again if you start cleaning and
moving parts around. But if your careful you should be ok!

Re: The last piece of the puzzle??????

Thanks for the info.
Update:
True to form as is my luck (mostly bad), I got the injectors and adjustable
fpr in and got everything back together and now the car won't even start.
Checked for codes and only the handshake code pops up.
Turn the key on and it shows no oil pressure. I hear the pump prime though.
Have to go back tomorrow (no more light now), and see if I can mess with
the fpr.
Is there anything else I need to look at?????????????
I think I may have put some of the plenum bolts back in the wrong place. Could this be part of the problem?
Just to think ahead (as is my luck), anybody looking to buy a gta?

Re: The last piece of the puzzle??????

Dont give up! Too many people throw in the towel with these cars!

No start issues huh? Hows the spark and fuel pressure? Is this FPR of
yours aftermarket adjustable? EDIT: Make sure the PSI is above 43-45psi.
Id check your coil, distributor connections and ground to the passenger
side head, and the fuse block for good measure.

Misplaced plenum bolts might create a vacuum leak and potentially destroy
your aluminum threads due to them bottoming out. But, it should attempt
to run/fire/spit what have you. Have you tried starting fluid to see if it'll
idle on its own?

Your oil pressure guage just might be dead or shorted, you could trace/repair
the circuit, or setup a mechanical guage, which I prefer anyway.

Re: The last piece of the puzzle??????

I didn't think to check the spark as I didn't disconnect anything related to
the ignition.
If I checked and rear correctly with my fuel pressure tester gauge, after key
on the pressure started at around 40-42 and then dropped and settled
at below 30 psi.
Also, now that I think of it, before I put the injectors in, I pushed on the
bottom of them and heard a click. Did I accidentally push them into a closed
position?

Re: The last piece of the puzzle??????

another update:

After the no start, I put the old injectors back in. No start there either. So I
spoke to a friend and told her what happened. She said I might have shorted
out the alternator so there wouldn't be sufficient voltage to power everything.
Removed it bought it to pep boys and sure enough it failed. Bought a new one
and decided to replace the battery too (I knew it was time anyway). Got
everything hooked, turned the key and bingo, car started.
I then drove for a few miles and it drove better than it has ever. Then the
car started to drive rough and lack power. I remembered reading that the
stock injectors have certain spray patterns and I know I didn't put them back
in their original spots so I am figuring that's the problem. Plus I think I set the
adjustable fpr a little high.
So tomorrow I have to adjust the fpr and put the replacement injectors back
in try them out. Hopefully this will finally end my driveability issues.
