Setting Minimum Air
So Today i had my car hooked up to a scanner to set the minimum air/idle and tps, it did like the tech article said, but it was idling at 1675 when it should be down at 450, i had the throttle stop screwed all the way back and it wasn't even touching the throttle but it would not slow down the idle. My teacher said it could be the spark timing off, any ideas where to start??

did you let it warm up? I just replaced the IAC on my 87 because I was getting stalling issues - it is up around 1400 or so at start up, by the time its warm its down to 500 in drive.

re: Setting Minimum Air
Yeah it said on the scanner 217 or something like that, but it really shouldn't have mattered because the iac was set at zero and disconnected like it said in the tech article. Is there a movable part in the distributor that wears out or do i just need to set the timing?
When i checked the timing with a timing light today it was at between the last spot in the thing like this on the top
<
timing was here

This was with the esc disconnected, and when i revved it a little it moved way above the metal piece there.

re: Setting Minimum Air
You have to disable the ECM timing control (Set Timing Connector, check initial timing while you have it disconnected) to set the Min Air, can't have the ECM changing the timing because you're fiddling with the air rate.
