4130 Forged Crank
Okay,
Does anyone know a kit for a 383 stroker I can buy that has a forged 4130 crank, with H-beam rods, .030+ over pistons with a compression ratio of 9.8:1 and the plasma moly piston rings.
I need a kit that is less expensive than about 1400. Thats what my mechanic said that he found and thats the cost. Ive tried looking anywhere and I cant find one, so if you guys know of one please, its gonna save me money. Also, the reason why I want 4130 vs. 4340, is becuase it is one, aluminium not steel, and two, it can handle up to about 7000 rpm while the 4340 can only handle about 6000.
But regardless of that any reccomendation guys will be handy and much appericiated. Also, I was thinking of running a hydraulic cam, with a 210 lift and 540 duration, with 190CC AFR heads. Is this good. Input appericated at this point guys.
Thanks, 3rd

Re: 4130 Forged Crank
Hey 3rd,
If your " mechanic " recommended or suggested that you need a " 4130 ALUMINUM " crankshaft (???) - I strongly recommend and suggest you need
another " mechanic " !!! You can EASILY put together a rock solid American
made 4340 forged STEEL crankshaft,4340 forged STEEL H-beam rods,Speed-Pro forged ALUMINUM pistons, rings, Clevite main and rod bearings AND the charge
for balancing your rotating assembly for $1200 - I know, I did it by shopping around. Good luck on your build-up !!!

Re: 4130 Forged Crank
Hes not charging me for anyparts or labor on this build, because hes a family friend. Im getting this whole thing built for about 3300-3500 dollars. I trust his judgment, because Ive seen the cars he has, (1971 Chevelle SS w/396 bored over), and what they can do. Hopefully i miss understood him for a 4130 Forged steel crank. I ono, i think its gonna be fine.
....I hope.
