IAC troubleshooting
I have been trying to adjust the iac with no resolve, I called Kevin at AFI he told me to make sure that the connectors were pined right. They used green for A high, low and blue for B hi and low, how can I check this, book says no reference meaning no voltage, can I jump the ald, diconnect the iac connector then remove it to see if it is fully extended???

The IAC sensor is not adjustable. If you are trying to adjust the idle speed, there is a procedure to follow. Jump A and B together in the ALDL connector and turn the key to "run". Wait about 30 seconds to let the IAC pintle fully extend. Disconnect the IAC and the timing connector. Remove the jumper from the ALDL and start the engine. The idle speed should be low. On the driver side top corner of the throttle body there is a torx screw (behind a metal plug you will have to remove with a punch) turn this screw to adjust the idle speed to about 450 to 500 rpm. When this is done, turn the engine off and reconnect the IAC and the timing connector and you're done.

The instructions I went by did'nt say to disconect the timming connector too, I try to set the idle at 450 and my datalog says the iac is at 140 counts? The less the throttle blades are open the higher the setps or counts of the iac. I was told the counts should be around 20 at idle in park. So should I set the iac to 20+-steps or set it to 450 rpm? I still have a rough idle, engine shakes like a random miss, still trying to resolve it.

Trans in park.
Make sure the timing connector is disconnected.
You want to set the idle to the value in your prom minus 50 rpm. This will give you your minimum IAC counts.
The IAC doesn't tell your ECM where it's at. The ECM is telling you where the IAC is supposed to be. Run an experiment to see for yourself. Start the car and disconnect the IAC while it's running. You'll see the IAC steps decrease as if it's working.
Make sure the timing connector is disconnected.

My desired idle is at 800, I set the idle at 750, seems to work. Why do you disconnect the timming connector? I have read that sum do and sum don't. Also the factory setting is 450, I only have a "RV" cam, 444 in, ex. What gives?

i have had to do this to mine also...maybe check to see if you TPS is around the .54volts i think if this is off it will help to through your counts off some also

Yes I always recheck the volts on the tps, it's a pain trying to set the idle knowing you are moving the tps too.

Your 800 desired idle is what is programed in your chip

I understand that the desired idle is programmed in the prom, my question was why is there a big difference between my prom and stock, as far as the idle goes, 300 rpm difference, that's alot!
