Nitrous w/ LB9??

Nitrous w/ LB9??
I have an '89 LB9 305 w/ 2.5'' dual exhaust hi-flo cat and shorty headers, lt1 cam, and cold air. Other than that its stock, and I was wondering if anyone with a similar set up to mine has used nitrous. How much nos can you use safely without the bottom end crapping out? how much torque can i make? estimated right now is probably 300. or if you feel more comfortable... how much horsepower?? This isn't a race car, so i'm not expecting the gain to be ridiculous but a little extra pull would be nice.

Re: Nitrous w/ LB9??
The general rule of thumb is not to do more than 20 hp per cylinder on a stock bottom end. To play it safe, don't go over a 100 shot. Start with a 75 and run premium fuel. Let us know how you like it. Just don't get to greedy on stock internals!

Re: Nitrous w/ LB9??
I used a dry zex system.
I had 24lb injectors on my 305-lb9.
The most I put to it was a 165hp shot.
BTW, that didn't blow the motor. When I was racing, the tranny slipped from 2nd to 3rd gear and hit the rev-limiter and n2o was still pushing. Not good for the engine as it blew the ring landing off of piston #8.
I also always engaged the n2o out of the hole with no ill effects.
If you want to be really safe, get a rpm window switch and wait till 2 or 3000rpm to engage the juice, and shut if off BEFORE it hits your rev-limiter!!!
I was very curious with my 305 if I couldn't have put a 200hp shot to it but not engage it till 3500rpm. Now I'll never know!

Re: Nitrous w/ LB9??
I used a 50 shot this weekend, it was pretty fun, was a little nervous to put a bigger shot to it, the computer seems to add a ton of timing
