need help with an 87 tpi

Hi I have an 87 Trans Am with a 305 TPI. I'm looking for some ways to get some more horsepower out of it without an LS1 engine swap or going carb. I've already done the following:

Flowmaster American Thunder Exhaust System
Magnaflow catalytic converter
K&N direct fit (onto the throttle body) air filter
new bosch spark plugs
MSD Distributor Cap and Rotor
Accel Heli-Core Spark Plug Wires
Holley Electric In-Tank Fuel Pump
52mm holly throttle body
SLP Performance Parts High Flow TPI Intake Runners
and a C6 corvette 4 disk brake system

and I think thats about everything
I've been restoring and working on the car for about 4 years now and I'm looking to make it more than what it is

sorry but I don't have any pics off hand (new computer)

Re: need help with an 87 tpi

open up the intake system. get a set of runners and either a new intake base or port and polish the stock base and heads. also a set of 1.6 roller rockers are a nice upgrade.

there are lots more options just depends on your wallet, time and what your looking for out of the car.

need to know what you want from it b4 you throw parts at it.

Re: need help with an 87 tpi

If you want to keep the basic TPI setup, then in order to increase the Hp, you need to increase the air flow. You already have the SLP runners, so port the plenum and the intake base, plus match port the entire system: plenum, runners, intake base, and cylinder heads. Also, the 1.6 ratio roller rockers is a good idea.

If you want to pick up the Hp a bit more, then buy a set of aluminum heads in the 180cc runner range and an appropriate chamber size to bump the compression ratio a little. 1-1/2" headers will help a little also. Developing more horsepower is all about increasing the air flow, in and out of the engine.

Re: need help with an 87 tpi

how did u manage to get this direct fit airfilter right onto the throttle body? assuming it really is an 87... they came with a mass air flow sensor.

I used a direct fit K&N air filter and I custom mounted the Mass air flow sensor where the throttle body and the air filter meet (and yes it took a lot of hours to get done and working correctly and to cut a hole for the electric plug in) I'll get u pics when I go home for break.

hears a link for the air filter that I got
http://www.knfilters.com/universal/unique.htm

I appreciate everyone's help on this matter thanks
