Thanks,
It will be in the trunk, the battery is on the workbench for now. I need to run a cable to the back and either get a box for the battery or build a cage for it.
I have an Optima Red Top, so I can mount it any way I'd like.

Hey,

IHRA rules allow a marine box for the battery. $8.00 at wallmart. Spare tire
cubby looks like a good place to me. Make sure you run high gauge wire tho. Fire = bad.

Btw, that setup loops pissah! I dunno if i'd spend the $299.00 for it just yet tho.

I take it your care is speed density?

How high a gauge wire, I was thinking 4 gauge from the battery to the front of the car.
I have an Optima Red Top battery and yes, I have a Speed Density system.

Oh, and I paid $185 shipped, since it was used for about 150 miles.

Thats not a bad deal then.. Where did you get
it? was it a SLP demo or ?

4 gauge prolly be ok. Depends on what you do
battery wise.

I'm gonna run two 700CCA batteries in my trunk or a 1000 CCA top post, so I'm gonna go with a higher gauge wire. I find with my headers, once my starter heats up a single 550 or 600 won't cut it.

Zepher, I would make that at least 2 gauge from the battery to the starter. I myself am running 2/0 to turn my high compression under any weather conditions. It needs more juice when it gets cold. I'm in the south now so the cold doesn't matter anymore.

Here's a list of wire sizes from smallest to biggest.

8 gauge
6 gauge
4 gauge
2 gauge
1 gauge
0 gauge
1/0 gauge
2/0 gauge
3/0 gauge
4/0 gauge
etc....

I have the same set-up. Bought it used off this board for like $150 from a guy in Hawaii. Now the fun begins routing that battery cable
I picked up a moroso battery box used from TBryne motor sports for $50. Don't forget that battery switch for the track. I mounted mine to the left in my convt trunk. I wanted to keep the spare, it's the wifes car.
p.s. It was suggested to stay away from standard battery cable and go to a welding supply shop. They have some really HEAVY gage wire for welders that is supposed to work excellent. I think it's like 0 gage or 00 gage.

Hey John, where did you get that Y piece for your air intake. I still think it looks cool with that lt1 intake on there too.

I made it.

3" PVC long elbows cut and welded(epoxy) together and sanded smooth/painted.

Ive always liked that SLP setup. The price has always turned me off. If I could run across a good deal on a used one. Did you guys notice a power increase over the stock airbox? Do the filters come with it? I would like to see a before and after dyno run to see the difference.

I wonder how restrictive the stock box is? It chokes down alot after the radiator.

John... that is a really good idea with the 3" pipe.

Hey, looks great. How hard is it to move the battery, is it a big job? What would be involved in doing so, and do they make any kinds of kits you can buy to do it? I really wanted the dual inlet SLP CAI setup you've got but I don't wanna jump into anything before I know what I'm getting into.

Hey John, I was going to attempt to make a dual setup like yours, but I am not too great at fabrication.

I bought the SLP intake used from someone from one of the message boards, can't remember which one.

How many feet and how much money am I looking at for the 2/0 gauge wire?

I would look at 20 feet. Also like I said before 2 gauge is the minumum, 2/0 is much bigger but would work very well. Check out this site for wiring and stuff. I got my battery cables there. http://www.delcity.net/wirecable.html

The SLP Dual Cold Air is a nice setup. However, for the 'big guys' out there keep one thing in mind ....

A 58mm TB has more area at the inlet than a 3" tube. The connection of the SLP D-CAI where the bellows connects to the dual air housing is 3". A 58mm TB should be able to outflow that section of the airbox.

Area of dual 58mm TB = 8.19 in^2
Area of dual 52mm TB = 6.58 in^2
Area of a 3 inch tube = 7.07 in^2
Area of a 3.25" tube = 8.30 in^2

Just some info to stir the senses

Outstanding! Although the ability to move air through the system will be restricted by the smallest element I can't help thinking about the "ram" effects at speed.

I'm assuming you can't use that setup on a MAF included.

Nope. BTW I don't think he's even using the setup at all anymore due to going to an LT1 (w/ MAF).

am doing an engine swap from my 305 TPI to a 350 LT1 and cannot use this Cold Air setup due to the MAF on the LT1.
I am looking to get $225 shipped to the lower 48 states.
What'd you do, drive it backwards for a few thousand miles?
