Depends on what you want to spend, need to know that too.

A cam swap and proper tune should get you 260. I'd say to hit the 300 mark you'd be best off putting some good heads on it, and that will help if you later decide like most of us that you want more.

 

Here's my take.
1. Headers and good exhaust.
2. Supercharger.

You can add bolt ons, change runners etc. but by the time you're done, you will have invested a great deal of time and money. Save the headache and go with forced induction.

first thing i need to get my car dyno then i can tell where im at.fresh rebuild less then 5000 miles ago so im hoping i have at least 230 at the wheels with the mods i have already.so maybe slp runner and a custom tune maybe bump up the fuel pressure but first i have to buy a adjustable reg.

 

Don't buy an adj. fuel pressure reg. You can make your own in about two hours and 2 bucks. There is a thread on here somewhere to show you how to. I did mine, it's basically a free mod.

 

A full bolt on L98 should put down around 250rwh. Then something like a ZZ9 cam with some trick flow heads should net around 300rwh with a good tune.
Your other option would be Exhaust/headers/intake/runners/Boost.

 

300 hp = $3,000

Option 1 - Heads, Cam, Intake, Tune

Option 2 - Turbo/Supercharger, Tune

 

or 300 hp crate motor($1450, includes shipping) with zz9 cam($375) and custom tune($250). swap all the TPI parts over (do yourself). A little over $2000.

 

well im 18 have some credit so i was thinkin try and borrow money from the bank like 10g at the most.

then i would get a supercharger,slp runners,ss hood,hawk 5in spoiler paint job,probably still have a few Gs left for cam/heads and some other goodies...

 

The stock TPI parts will not flow enough to support 300 hp, you'll need to update the base and runners also.

 

Nothing a port job can't do. Right now I have about 300 HP with only a supercharger, cam, and tuned chip on my 305.

 

never mind my posts, I just realized you were looking for wheel horsepower. I've been posting base engine horsepower, sorry.

 

When I was building my 350 up, I had a tpis mini ram, with a zz9 cam and edelbrock performer heads, and with a good tune I made 293 to the wheels. I could of easily made more with bigger shorty headers. I had the crappy edelbrock TES

 

Worst thing ever to do. Dont buy anything on credit unless you absolutely have to. (home, new car, blow a transmission, etc).

I agree that 300whp is alot and will take a major bolt-on motor with good tune. Or forced induction.

 

Yea they will. Its just easier with a different base. The runners will take you well past 300 if you want.

 

haha i just want to be able to beat a mustang cobra tired of those supercharger b*tches lol i know i shouldnt be racing them anyway with my almost bone stock 350 but it too much fun.

just out of the blue what does an 04 cobra do in a 1/4 they have what 390hp and 390tq
