86 IROC 305 Cam question...

Ok I've done some searching but couldn't find anything right away. I am rebuilding my 86 305 TPI. I am wanting to change the cam but want something hotter. I am putting on a ported plenum, bigger runners and intake and headers as well as having the stock heads redone but can't find a cam that will give me better horsepower. I want to get close to 300 to 350 horsepower so which do I need? All the computer cams I've seen say for stock motors (which mine isn't going to be). Please help or at least point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Summit makes a kit for 150.00, I think it is a G5000 that has descent springs, cam, and lifters.
I'm running one in a 86 305 TPI.
I did a little port work while engine was down.

Re: 86 IROC 305 Cam question...

How do these cams sound? I am wanting a little rumble not something just beating the ground to death. Also what about hp increase? Do we have any figures? Thanks for the help.

Cam has a slight loppy sound, but it's not really that big.
Only test is with buttometer.

When I had my 86 with ported plenum, ported stock base, ported SLP runners, worked stock heads I went with retro-fit lifters so I could use a roller cam in a non-roller block.Went with a Comp Cams custom grind 210/215/499/499 that put it in the 13.90's which I believe is around 300 rwhp.Still have the retro-fit lifters & pushrods PM if interested.
