Fuel Pressure Regulator
My '91 Z28 L98 has been significantly built, dyno's out at nearly 400hp(396whp). My question is, my car has been mail ordered tune by Ed Wright at SuperChips in Tulsa, Ok... but it still runs rich. I have a feeling it'll just be too hard to dial in the car with a mail-order tune and I don't quite have the money to tow the car to Tulsa and to get a Dyno-Tune.
I've heard a Fuel Pressure Regulator will SOMEWHAT help(not hoping it'll magically solve everything) the car run a little leaner. But, does the Pressure Regulator I get need to be brand specific to the intake and such I have?
A member here has brand new BBK Fuel Regulator, but my car has a TPIS Intake and such. Do I need to get a TPIS Fuel Regualator, or are the Regulator's fairly universal?

Re: Fuel Pressure Regulator
The regulators for our cars are all the same, mounting wise. Unless your car had a custom fuel system then you could possibly have a regulator that was mounted somewhere else on the car (not the manifold). BBK, crane, TPIS will all work on your set-up, they simply replace the stock unit. however if and when you do install a AFPR you will need a fuel pressure gauge to check the psi, mine is from Hypertech and works just fine (a couple other brands make the gauges also). hope that helps

Re: Fuel Pressure Regulator
If you install a AFPR to "lean the tune". It will lean everything.
What size injectors do you have and what is the chip injector size programed at? There are many ways to "lean the tune", some are "change it all" and others just certain areas.
What are your BLM's running and at what condition (idle cruise)?
Where is it rich and how was that verified (WB, NB, plugs, or smell)?
Most Guys on here, adjust the VE tables on SD setups to tune the rich/lean.
It looks like you want a simple solution to a more complex issue.

Re: Fuel Pressure Regulator
My car has SVO 30lb injectors and has been mail-ordered tune by Ed Wright(SuperChips - Tulsa, OK)... and is tuned for the 30lb injectors.
The car runs rich all throughout... at idle it's puffing out too much gas, and it isn't any 'faint smell', it's burn your eyes way too rich, you can easily see the fumes from the un-burned gas. I also had to go through two sets of spark plugs within 17 miles because they were foulded.
At half-throttle the car has a tendenacy to load up and bog and you can tell the power isn't 'all there' because it's putting out too much gas.
At full-throttle, the car behaves a little better. Doesn't load up quite as much, but still you can see the gas fumes easily pouring out as the car launches.
