Best Cam for 5.7l TPI (L98)

I am in the market for a cam right now, and was wondering if anyone had input on what grind I should go with. I have Edelbrock Performer heads, Edelbrock street legal headers, Accel 30lb/hr injectors, and a shift kit. Eventually I might put a charger on my baby but that will be after the rebuild. So for right now I need a cam that will make my idle somewhat lumpy, but I don't really want to have to install a vacuum canister. What do you think of the SLP cam? It's around .500 lift and 217 intake duration I think. I can get it for $150.

Thanks in advance for any info...
Gabe

How about a ZZ4 take-off cam from Scoggin Dickey?. Sells for $100. Any cam change would need a higher flowing intake setup than the stock TPI though. Good runners and a ported stock base, or a high flow base would work well.

Check out what Comp cams has to offer. I have the 08-302-8, it has .480 lift and 210-220 duration. It is noticably lumpy and is a great match for a tpi or ltr setup. It was $235 from sumit.

for a stock unported TPI no more than the
LPE 219/219 cam. any more and your choking
the cylinders with nothing. 30# injectors?
why so much? MAF or SD system? chipped?
later you can add the larger manifold, runners
and 52mm throttle body.
lumpy cams are designed for a faster idle
and 3500rpm and up. the tpi is good till 5200??
and on a TPI car.. lumpy seems to make the
smog police wave their authority a bit much.
the zz4 and zz9 (TPIS) cams would be good choices.
heres a FAQ from TPIS:
"Q: I would like to order some bigger injectors, I was thinking about a 27-30lb/hr injector would be good for my 350ci motor, it has a ZZ9 cam, 10.5:1 compression, 4.09 gears, AFR heads, 1.6 rockers, 52mm throttle body, headers, your Big mouth intake and Large Tube runners. Will these work with my combination?

A: No these are much too big for any 350ci motor. Unless you are running an aftermarket engine management computer, which would allow you to run any size injector you want. We have found that by running a stock size injector and increasing the fuel pressure, via an adjustable regulator, you will get a better spray pattern. The better spray pattern gives better atomization (which is the mixture of the fuel and air) and increased horsepower. So if your stock injectors are working good, just do a custom PROM and boost the fuel pressure and you will be happy. Unless you have someone doing a custom PROM for you, and they want you to run a bigger injector. It really depends on who is tuning your car, they will determine your injector size. But if we were tuning it, we would recommend stock size.

just some light on this subject...

tpis is right to a point --but they want your money for a easy custem chip that they can vastly overcharge you for and spend very little or no time to develop.also one thing to think abouit is how long do you think your fuel pump will last at any pressure over 50 psi.bigger injecters are fine if your chip is matched to them not so fine if you are trying to run a stock chip.as in all cases your goal is to lower the duty cycle of the injecter.
just so you know you can run 30's on a stock moter with the right chip and also on a charged moter with a different chip

i understand what you are saying, but you gotta
say $500 for a chip? seriously?? ive heard
more chip griping because the higher the price
the better the expectations. and when they
plunk 5 $100 bills and that doesnt fix it
what do those people do... GRIPE louder.
honestly, if you dont want to burn your own
or learn how to burn your own, then please
dont pay more because you think your getting
more... there is only so much a chip can do.
and if you changed every map, every constance,
$300 would be max... $300 would buy most of
what you need to burn a chip.
i see so much overkill and waste... money down
drain.
