I just got the holley unit. It looks real nice. It's easy install/adjust. It also doens't appear to properly hold pressure once the engine is off. It's either the regulator or the injectors i just got back from rich, and i really doubt the latter. Unless i start getting hot start problems i think i'll just ignore it and ride on though...

I just got the holley unit also, very nice and easy to adjust pressure with the hand turn dial, no more little tiny wrench fumbling around under the plenum for 10 minutes to adjust it 2#s.
The TPIS units are junk because the vac tube will break off easy.
No problems with the Holley on mine as far as holding pressure when engine off. Could also be the check valve in the pump.

It would certainly be queer for that to fail EXACTLY after i installed the new regulator/injectors on the first prime of the system.

I personally believe that whne it comes to fuel pressure regulators that they areall the same.... they all do the same thing i.e. change pressure by turning a screw.

I dont think one is any better than any other performance wise. However, I can not speak for ease of install (one compared to another) or detail of instructions, etc.

Ed, Ed, Ed...not 'member my post from awhile back about having two of those mother****** Holley regulators leak (both to the pump AND to the plenum) and drive me crazy? I think the valve disc is not the proper size in them, that and the diaphragm is just a POS or perhaps it's because of all those aluminum chips they pack in the bag with it for extra precaution . Either way, I'm betting you're another victim of Holley's nice looking and user-friendly (which is why I chose it as well) piece of junk. Like you said and like I thought when mine did that, it would be a little queer for the check valve to suddenly fail. Eventually, I swapped the stocker back in and experienced no more pressure drop.

Didn't realize it started at the same time the regulator was installed. Yea, the packaging has a lot to improve on for the Holley, all the parts are just throw into the same baggy. The diaphram may have a pin hole in it from the brillant packaging monkeys.
Performance wise, an adjustable reg. is just that, as long as they hold your pressure correctly at different vac levels, there is no difference. The Holley doesn't require a wrench to adj, can do it with two fingers under the back of the plenum easily.
*
To make sure its not leaking thru the diaphram, remove the vac tube to plenum while the motor is running, then cut off the motor and see if fuel comes seeping out the vac tube. Otherwise the spring just isn't seating on the diaphram or diaphram on the base correctly and allowing fuel to pass thru to the return line after shut off.

well against the grain, i went with a tpi fpr only because it's what the store recomende (maybe it's because it was on the shelf) who knows......... anyway for now things seem to be ok.

I've got it up to 44 at wide open and around 38 at idle does that sound ok?

i will say this much, i added a booster pump and the car woke up dramatically when it raised the pressure only a few, when i raised it about 6 more points with the FPR, it woke up even more so i must be on the right track some how..........now everyone pray that things don't fall on my face for me!
