Correct Knock sensor resistance for TPI, 3900 or 100k ohms?

Ok, I got this knock sensor out, its for a 92 TPI 5.7, the resistance was 3880 on the one in the motor. The one that came out of my TBI motor was also 3900 ohms. The new one I got from auto store is 100k ohms???
I've read some old posts where some people seem to have 100k ohm resistance knock sensors, which is correct?
I know the TBI and TPI sensors are supposed to be different, but in my case the old TBI and the one in the motor that came with the TPI setup are the same.
Thanks

I you have a internal knock module it should be 39-43k(as in the 7730) the external module would be 100k(as in the 8746 or 7165) HTH

It appears that the 100k ones have a white top, and the 3900 ones have a black top. Went to the auto store and had them pull another one from the self. I whipped out my volt meter and sure enough, it was 3900 ohms, so I returned the 100k one they had sold me ealier.
Thanks Don for explaining the difference in their use, mines an internal ESC.
