tach wire

i have a 1987 camaro lb9 5 speed need to know where and what color is the tach wire

Purple/White or White on the ignition coil. You can test it with a digital meter set to ac voltage (2 or 20). Idle the engine and slowly increase the RPM's. Voltage should go up with higher RPM's.
