code 32
hello i have a 88 formula 350 tpi 5-speed that is throwing a code 32 and a rough idle. when I first start the car for the day it gives a code 32 but once it is warm and restarted the SES light stays off but the idle is another story. In neutral the idle jumps between 500-750 and some times when driving with out the SES light on from the code 32 it will hang at 2000 when stopped and then slowly drop to a 1000 then the SES light comes on with a code 24 witch is vss but the book I have says if this code is thrown when stopped dis regard but if I start driving the SES light goes away.
Stuff I have done so far.
I have set and re placed the IAC valve and adjusted the TPS accordingly. The TPS has no flat spots the volts change smoothly with the throttle opening and closing. Checked and could not find any vacuum leaks please help this is driving me crazy I can't think of any thing else to fix except the EGR valve but I would like to hear someone else's opinion first to make sure. Thanks for any help

Re: code 32
Have you worked on the car recently? Sometimes we forget to replace certain wires or sensors, or hook them up wrong, and that will cause problems. The rought idle makes it sound like your EGR valve is stuck open. If the plenum is super hot at idle then its definitely a stuck-open valve.

Re: code 32
thanks for the reply I was thinking the EGR was stuck but was not sure how to check for that but the plenum is very hot when at idle. I ordered an EGR valve should be in this morning I hope that is the problem but would that cause the sticking idle and the code 24 when at a stop light. I will update after the EGR is installed.

Re: code 32
thanks for the help it turns out that it was not the egr valve but the egr temp sensor the wire was pinched between the upper intake. Repaired the wire no code 32 tweaked the timing and now it is running great for now at least.
