Anybody got autometer 100 psi electric FP guage??
Went to the speed shop down the street last night and was looking to get a autometer A/F guage and a single pod. I saw this 100 psi electric fuel pressure guage in the catalog there and was considering it along with the 2 guage pod.
Anybody put one of these in yet??? There's an adapter fitting in the back of the catalog that'll supposedly screw in the fuel rail if you unscrew the schraeder valve BUT I don't know how big the sender unit is... Is it a big ugly POS that'll require some more adapters?
I really don't want to mess with a mechanical guage and it's isolators to mount it inside and taping my homemade guage to the windshield is a big PITA.
Opinions???

I have the 2 gauge a-pillar mounted pod with the A/F ratio meter and the electric fuel pressure meter. Good combo. The install is straight forward and the the sender is about the size of pear. Not to noticeable if mounted correctly.

Thanks.. Did you need any other fittings to get it neat looking??? Will I need that adapter or will this sender go in where the schrader valve is now???
Yeah, I was looking at the pillar pod... shoulda said that.

Got any pics?
I'm gonna be using one of those along with an A/F ratio gage and a nitrous pressure gage. I think it'll look kinda cool...
I was worried about the sender being the size of a pear. I just wanna know how to hide it.

I have an autometer phantom e fuel pressure guage in my car, i flush mounted it in the dash where the cig. lighter was.
Install is straight forward. You decore the schrader valve. Then you adapt the 1.4 male flare of the valve with the 1/8 npt inlet of the sender. I have my sender UNDERNEATH my plenum, i did this by simpy bending a 1/4 brass tube in a 270' loop and pointing it out under the plenum. It's about as tight as you can effectively form a 1/4 tube, but you can clear the MAP/plenum by doing it this way. That ends into a 1/4 flare male to male, then i got a 1/4 flare female to 1/8 ntp femal to hook to the sender. I bought all the fittings at home depot.
The sender then runs to a small control box, i mounted that out of the way under the kickpanel in the car. The control box is maybe 1/2" deep and maybe a little less than 3x3".
Here's a tip, hook up the switched power wire for the guage to the accessory circuit rather than the ignition circuit. Subtle difference, with the guage on the ACC ckt you can turn the key backwards and observe your FP leakdown w/o priming the FP and ruining your observations. The drawback is you can't see the FP when cranking, but this is trivial, since if you have FP before you start cranking, it isn't going to dissapear when you start cranking, the injectors pulsing to start it aren't gonna eat that much pressure off it. I'd rather be able to check leakdown personally.
I have a few pics of the install at home. They're not great but they might give you a better idea of what i mean by the sender under the plenum, drop me an email at ed@thirdgen.org if you want me to send them to you.

Yes, you can buy Brass "T" fittings to make multiple connections.
Also, keep in mind that autometer makes a full electric sweep gauge for about $180, and a cheaper half sweep for about $80.
