Ramjet Intake?

just wanted to know your thoughts on the ramjet - planning on putting it in my TA (cheaper than the miniram, may work better?) along with a set of fastburn heads and the LT4 hotcam kit.

thanks

It may not be cheaper to go with the Ram Jet intake. The intake by itself is around $400. Then you need fuel rail, injectors, sensors, Throttle body, fuel line kit, etc, etc. You might end up spending the same as what you would spend on a mini ram.

I have this combo you speek of sitting in my project car right now. New 350 with the LT4 Hot Cam, Fast-Burn Aluminum heads, 1.6 GMPP aluminum roller rockers, Ram Jet intke, 30lb/hr SVO injectors, MEFI 3 computer reprogrammed by Arizona Speed & Marine. I am just days from firing it up and driving it. Cant wait. This is "supposed" to be a 430HP combination, but well see.

I was looking at one on a car last weekend... probably was a 57 Chevy or something
Anyway, it was ugly. Looks weird, very narrow and too tall for how narrow it is.

I figured that with the ramjet, i would at least be getting a bigger LS1 throttle body fo about the same price as a miniram setup. BTW formulajoe, i also have the hooker headers and no cat - i'm really interested to see how the combo turns out to see if it's worth putting my money into

Madmax, I agree with you on the appearance of the Ram Jet intake. It IS pretty narrow and tall. It has grown on me a bit though and everyone that has seen it thinks it is really cool, because they havent seen anything like it before. Everyone is used to seeing TPIs, Super Rams, and Mini Rams.

Ill keep you guys posted on how it turns out. On this setup, Im using the SLP 1 3/4 headers (coated) and Im gonna go with a 3.5" mufflex system with a spintech muffler I believe. Im gonna try to go with a 3.70/3.73 gear in my 9 bolt rear along with the T56.

I'd like to see the inside, but just from the way its designed it should work quite well, there seems to be a fair sized plenum and then you have a column of air down to the head, better idea IMO. Its along the lines of the box upper intakes the Ford guys use, but all in one manifold... and I know those work good, have had experience with them.

The inside looks real good. The top portion is all plenum and the runners come in to the plenum at the very bottom of the plenum and appear to be at the same angle as the intake runners on the heads (ie, straight shot). I measured the runners on the ram jet a while back and they are like 4.25" or something around there. Im pretty sure is was just a hair over 4" long. Should perform good, but I wont know for sure for a while.
