Re: For all you 305 haters out there...

I have no problem with nitrous, but IF I were to street race, I wouldn't feel bad about getting beaten by a nitrous motor.

Everyone has different goals. I think the issue is that some guys take pride in the planning, the money saving, the building, the busted knuckles, and the rush of winning a race. Other people simply want to win by any means. There's nothing wrong with either method, but I think it's why some people aren't really nitrous friendly.

how light is the car?? that is a horrible 60ft for the ET but it gets moving after the 330.. that should run 11.3-11.2's with a deak hook..

Re: For all you 305 haters out there...

not to be a hater either but 260 with nos isnt that impressive to me. 260 without nos ona 305 is. i love my 305 but i mean sure i could throw a 150 shot on it for a dyno and say i have a 300 horse 305 when its really 100something.

my definition of horsepower is horsepower you have 100% of the time at a given RPM not just whenever you push the button.

i kinda agree with that, thats why my choice of power adder comes in a procharger.. but i might get the intercoller spray kit for some hard runs.

thats fast. no other word for it. however i did see in a issue of CarCraft one time under readers rides, a guy with a 307 in a third gen(1984 berreta) pulled off a 11.03 @about 121 if i remember corectly. so far thats the quickest 305 third gen ive seen. And going back to a conv. earlyer about being the underdog, its never more satisfiying then to wipe that dumb grin off the ls1 ******** your about to race with your, old, obsolete,****** machine, buttrock moble, rattle trap of a thirdgen. Im all about being in the sleeper too(I work at a ford dealership, so i never hear the end to that ****!)

I agree, 260 hp sucks. 100 extra hp safely with $500 is to me though. Thats great if you have the money to build a 300 horse 305, however 85% of Third Gen owners don't. That is the whole point in owning a third gen for some people, cheap performance with a good platform to start with. I, however, do not have the money to build a 300 horse 305, or I would be in a 01-02 SS or WS6. BTW, the shot is not just for the dyno day, its for any time I feel like running it, and since I started this thread, its now a 100 wheel shot..... Time for some tires!!!!!!!!

Re: For all you 305 haters out there...

i never said mine was 300 horse i said i could grab a 150 shot and it would be. im not a 305 hater im a nos hater. i would just rather save my $$ per bottle fill and after a couple years buy somtin thats worth while... like a power adder that adds power all the time and not just 5% of the time when your pushin the button.

i know you can use it whenever you want and not just dyno day but how does it look when ur waxin *****s by 4 car lengths then ur bottle goes dry and they start waxin you by 4 car lengths...

granted its cheap power and its your car so you can do to it whatever you want, id just rather have that power all the time, even if i do have to wait a while to get it... thus mine is still stock. but hey u got it now so hav fun with it, go paste a rice burners 4 me. good luck.

Once you get to the track and start running low ETs you'll start to appreciate what nitrous has to offer. There's nothing like building a motor to handle a 500 shot.

Re: For all you 305 haters out there...

Bumped the jets back down to a 75 shot, the car wasn't even safe to drive on street tires with a 100 shot.

Got a new best tonight at the track, 8.91 @ 81 mph and backed it up with a 8.97 @ 81 mph. Still can't spray until 2nd gear.

All I did was set my IAC count and Adjust the TPS voltage. It was off by .3 volts and obviously it made a huge difference. It is worth over a tenth in the 1/8th and 2 mph, probably more in the 1/4. It was also about 15 degrees warmer tonight than when I ran last. Just shows you how much better a little tuning will improve.
