Re: Lt1 cam 1.6rr ???

Given that the cam provides lift in the .440-.450 range with 1.5s that would put you up around .480" with 1.6s rockers. That's definitely near the danger zone with stock unmodified heads.

it is but its not. dont forget a new decent set of springs and retainers. and a shim kit. u should be fine. many have done it. im a 499 lift with my comp cam and 1.6rr's stock 305 heads.

did you run shims and offset locks or offset retainers? thats the only way i know to run higher lift than .480 on stock heads without machine work.

I have heard .480 is where stock retainer will hit the valve guide boss and/or valve seal. running .050" offset locks and shims will raise that clearance to almost .530" safely

well with just the cam swap, which is a very common mod on any 305. u shouldnt need any burning. just an AFPR and up it a little.

Re: Lt1 cam 1.6rr ???

with speed density, aka 91-92 cars and some 90's i guess, you will need a tune. Even small cams wont be optimized running stock programming. Depends on how big you go tho, you can get away with cams like the comp cc501 which is a 212/218 cam, just a step and a half up from a stock LB9/ L98 grind. a Mass air car can tolerate mild cams much better tho
