A few questions from the TPI experts....

I have been around these forums alot, and i have definately done my fair share of tpi badmouthing. I believe i have gone so far as to say "it belongs no where near performance and is a curse to the f body." Well, recently I purchased a 305tbi 1988 camaro. Its a nice car, straight with nice interior. It runs great, and the best part, its a 5 speed. I picked up a complete tpi setup intake, fuel rail, injectors, tb, harness, computer, etc., from a 1991 350camaro. Before I get to the meat and potatos, I am an ASE Master Tech, I know cars. lol. But, I have never owned a tpi, and really only worked on handful and none of it was performance mod stuff. I searched on here, and found lots of useful stuff, learned a lot already. There were a few things though, that I had some questions on. Like for example, what would happen if i left the 350 injectors and prom and stuff and installed it on my 305? Will it really run that bad? Also, the harnesses are from 2 different years. I swapped my 87 from mpfi to carb, it wasnt bad. Am I lookin at a mess here? I can do the work, its not a problem as far as skill, obviously, but this car is a DD and I dont want it down more than a few days. What say guys, will it work ok?

It should be ok. I used a 305 5-speed chip with 19lbs injectors on my 350 5-speed with 22lbs injectors and it was fine.

Thats cool. We have done the same kinda thing with TBI before, I just wasnt sure how tpi would react to that. Im guessing I will have some vats issues because the wiring harness is from a 91. This will also be my first time dealing with circumventing vats on one of these cars. Should be fun. Any advice is well recieved. Im definately not an expert on these systems.

Good luck on the build, and welcome to the dark side

You'll love the gas mileage.

Thanks. I'm looking forward to it. I have set of 305 tpi heads in the garage, I am going to port those and install them on the little lo3. Im also going to scour ebay for an lt1 cam. I think it will be a pretty quick little car, and that will also be a great daily driver.
