Mine is next to the charcoal canister on the driver side. you don't have to move anything in this position.

I put my 6AL right between the battery and the radiator. It's not the most ideal spot I guess, but I couldn't find any other place without having to move things somewhere else. It seems these engine compartments weren't meant to have anything added. I'm sure you can find a place though. I'm told alot of guys put them inside the car too, usually near the passenger footwell or up under some of the plastic. A little more of a routing pain, but a nice place to conceal it from weather and vision. Good luck and have fun.

Most people mount theres upright between the drivers side strut cover and windshield. Be advised, an MSD tech told me to make SURE the MSD unit was mounted upright (top facing sky) to make sure any moisture escapes.

I mounted my 6BTM in the nose of my 88 IROC.
I removed the TPI air cleaner assembly when I added the blower, and used a V6 blank cover. With the air cleaner assembly removed there is a ton of space to mount the box. I think this space is perfect because the box does'nt get wet and it is away from engine heat.

well, this is how it hooks up..
it has 2 power cables one to ground the other to the battery, next is the pickup lines, it has 2 wires a red and white.
they connect to the wires that goto your coil, instad of going to your coil, they goto the box, now it has to other wires, a ornage and a black, they now goto your coil.

what it does.. under 3k rpm it keeps the spark at the plug for 20* of the crank rotation per ignition. (fires the plug more than once) after 3k there isnot enough time to fire it twice so it pts out this one powerful spark. it makes the ignition more effecint therfore more compleat combustion therefore more power. it mainly givs throttle responce but i would never take mine off the car it ranges around 130ish for the 6a , if yo uwant the 6al its around 170.. the difrence is the al has a rev limiter built in and the 6a doesnot, goto msd's web site they have wiring diagrams aswell as all their products.

I yanked my coolant bottle from the passenger side strut tower, and replaced it with a smaller "generic" one from JC Whitney's. I then mounted my 6AL where the coolant bottle was. It's mounted so the MSD sticker faces the driver's fender. The "top" screws go right into the strut tower. I fabb'd a bracket out of 1/16" steel to go between the "bottom" screws and the strut tower- the curve of the strut tower is so great that all four "feet" don't touch; the strut tower hit the MSD box in the center. With the bracket, it raised the bottom up about an inch, and I have a half inch clearance between the center of the MSD 6AL box and the strut tower. The brace looks like a "Z".

I put my MSD 6AL on the passenger side of where Desert86Roc's MSD is. So mine is right by the divorced coil. Didn't have any problems with wiring at all. Since the 6A is a smaller unit, it'll be a lot easier for you, as mine fit JUST RIGHT.

Just wanted to add to the topic in case someone's looking to buy a ign. box.

Don't get one with the rev-limiter if your car is computer controlled. Your stock ecm has a built in rev limiter to protect from over revving. Why have 2?? Save the $$ and get a 6A box.

GM put rev-limiters in the 82-92 computers? I thought they just had speed limiters...

Well, if you get the 6AL, you can add on the 2-stage or 3-stage rev limiter box. I'm planning on adding a 3-stage limiter- one for "normal driving/racing", one for when I line up to the tree at the track, and one for valet/anti-theft.

Yes there's a rev limiter in at least the TPI code. Factory it's set to about 10k RPMs, which a TPI won't see, so it's effectively disabled. I believe the factory rev limiter cuts fuel but not spark, and people have indicated that this could cause Bad Things (TM) to happen. I haven't had my car running since I implemented my rev limiter in the ECM code, so I can't comment yet on that...
