TPI on an older 320 block?

I was wondering what year of block I would need to run my TPI setup on? What I want to do is, build another bottom half while I still use the engine in my car. Then when I am finished switch them out. Is their anything I need to know when searching for a block? I know the heads are kinda diffrent on TPI setup so what am I looking for? Any Information will help greatly. Thanks again

There is nothing special at all about the engine under a TPI. In 87 the center intake bolt angle changed, thats the only difference. If you plan to use your stock base then you will have to modiy the 4 center bolt holes if you want to bolt it to early style heads. Aftermarket bases don't have this problem, they take both intake bolt angles.

in addition to ed's comments 87 and later came with provisions for a roller cam spider tray.if your intent is to make the most of the quick ramp speeds of a roller cam look for an 87 or later to save the hasssle of special lifters and a cam button.a 2bolt will normally not even bat an eye at 400hp decide on whatt you want then search for the candidate for your mods
