When was the last time you checked the Muffler Bearings?

seriously, Because you are running at least 9.3:1 compression, you should run 92+octane. If you wanted to know... octane in gasoline does a few things, one, it allows the fuel to burn slower, and with higher octane it will also burn cooler.
Think about when you put cheep gas into an old car that does not have knock retard. It spark knocks like crazy. The reason is the fuel is exploding too early for the timing.
So to fix the problem you either use higher octane or a knock sensor that takes care of your knock problem.
Higher octane therefore will allow you to advance your timing slightly to help with added power.

Hope this helps...

BTW, higher octane does not "allow the fuel to burn slower" Octane is the resistance to combustion and although higher octane gases do have a slightly increased burn time, that quote requires more careful analysis.
