Autoxrays are about 225.00 or so new, there's several places that offer scan tools to be used through a laptop, also some that are free, you just need to make a cable.
There's always the used market as well, I've seen several SnapOn's on Ebay go in the 300-400 range, usually with older cartridges, but what the heck, they'll still be fine for a 3rd gen.
OTC's usually go real cheap for the older ones, sometime in the 100.00 range.

Bobbo -
I have the AKM cable and am currently running Craig Moate's software. It works great and lets you monitor EVERYTHING in real time which is a big help. It really helps for tuning and such. Let me know if you want to take a look. I have decided to get the camaro and the malibu repainted and straightened up instead of getting more go fast goodies for now. Hopefully I will get them over to the paint shop in about a week or so, sooner if I can find another car to drive. Oh yeah, I got my mirror polished IROC wheels on the car last week, they look sweet!![](https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/smile.gif)
