Differences in TPI plenums?

I'm wanting to port and polish the plenum on my 89 Formula 350, but I'm going to try and find one in a junkyard or on Ebay that I can work on, since this car is a daily driver.

My question is what years of F-bods and Corvettes are the same? From what I've read, I want to find 89 or up because the earlier years had the cold start injector.

There is a big Corvette shop in town, I'm sure they will have one that I need, I just need to know the year. Any 'Vette specialists here?

Thanks,
Alex

the cold startt has nothing to do with the plenum. anything from 85 to 89 will work the 9th injector sits in the driver's side runner bolted to the intake so any maf plenum will work possibly sd also but not sure

i just did my plenhiem recently and it took about 8 hours in total to remove, port, re-assemble and reset IAC/TPS....i also installed a AFPR at that time..it is a good time to do the AFPR if you have one as you already have the plenhiem off. so if you have a day off it can be done in one day.

The only differences between the maf plenums and the map plenums I believe is the place where the map sensor mounts on the passenger side.

in regaurds to AFPR settings i can only speek from my expierence....i am using the holly afpr..it cost $180 CANADIAN. i picked it because it was adjustable by a dial instead of using a allen wrench but i had to grind down the head of dial....it was interfering with the plenhum. i found the best pressure for my set up was 51 lbs. i started at 46 and worked my way up to 54 and best et was attained at 51 lbs.

All plenums are the same except as mentioned the provision for the MAP sensor.
Don't get the Accel AFPR. When the guts wear out you have to buy a whole new unit. You cannot replace it with stock FPR guts and Accel does not just sell the inner part. My JET I had to find a new set bolt at the hardware store. It came with some ridicuously small bolt head that was too long and bumped into the plenum. Plus the cost was like $65 for just the shell! I had to buy a stock FPR from NAPA to fill my $65 shell. You may want to check out the tech articles on making you're own. Seeing how my JET works I don't see any safety issues at all.

Maybe you might like the ported, powdercoated, and laser etched plenum I have sitting here next my computer. It came off a 1989 Camaro Z28 and is ready to go.

Aw Nuts! I forgot! You have a formula, not a Trans Am. I *knew* I should have etched "PONTIAC" in there instead of "TRANS AM"!

Just a thought.
