TPI running rough, Frustrated.

I am having a problem, I need help. It misses, runs like crap, wont idle, falls on its face at 4500 rpm, pops out of the intake and exhaust (Small exhaust leak). If I work on it at night, I can get it to run ok, and start. But then the next morning it will not start, act like it is too advanced, and not start. If I play with the distribtor, i can get it to fire after a little. But then again it still runs very bad. I have put on: Cap, rotor, plugs, ignition module, different set of used good (I thought where) wires (getting new ones today, light show under the hood.) good 43lbs of fuel pressure, injectors tested good, and tons of cursing. I can not figure this out. I am a carb guy, so please guide me along, and I will try my best. I am going to light it on fire. Also, it has a new knock sensor, and starter. It pulled code 43. But for some reason my scanner will not go into Live data, so I can not see sensor readouts.

Thank you for any help.

Re: TPI running rough, Frustrated.

Well a code of 43 is for a Electronic Spark Control and it could back off your timing if its faulty for some reason. Some times the sensor might be bad even if its new especially if its from pep boys or some place like that.

I just had the same thing happen with my other car when the fan switch went out. Went down to the pep and got a new one but it wouldn't kick on until it gets real hot and the dummy light comes on. Just a thought.

Re: TPI running rough, Frustrated.

check to make sure you have the right knock senser. a tpi motor knock senser should read around 35000 ohms. a tbi would have about 100000 ohms. i had that problem
