Camaro Rear-end Compatibility

How compatible are third-gen and fourth-gen Camaro rear ends? I've been told that the fourth-gen Camaro rear-ends will take more torque than a third-gen and also have a different offset which eliminates the need for wheel spacers when adding wider tires/wheels to a third-gen car. If true, I'm interested in understanding the level of difficulty in swapping my third-gen rear-end with that of a fourth-gen car.

They will bolt right in. No modifications other than brake lines if you have an older 3rd gen.

The 4th gen rears are slightly wider.
